2006-01-18 - 11:19 p.m. so i substitute taught 6th graders today. fascinating. i'm not going to lie, i think little boys with shaggy hair are just the cutest damn things i've ever seen. but this is my basic conclusion from today's experience: teachers are bloody liars. i have begun to question my entire education. i guarantee you, your teachers were lying to you at least 40% of the time. i don't think they do it on purpose, but they seem incapable of simply responding, "I don't know, that is information i am unable to obtain at this time." they don't know the answer to a question, they'll make it up. and teachers are not known for their creativity. my other conclusions: 50% of public education is a waste of time, 88% of adolescence is awkward, 100% of teachers think 20% of the kids in their class are idiots, 40% of the kids are idiots, 77% of social studies has no real life application or value, 93% of education is jumping through hoops, 99.9% of children can be manipulated through candy, and cafeteria food isn't even 66% as bad as it is made out to be (they served turkey and gravy, it was amazing). now, these are not scientifically proven statistics, but i feel like they are pretty accurate. feel free to quote me in your next research paper.
